Synergistic agriculture: a balanced ecosystem
After twenty years of biologic agriculture and five years of biodynamic one, finally we managed to bring our lands in a situation of equilibrium which is what in technical terms is defined synergistic agriculture.
When an ecosystem has no peaks of development of a living being on the other, only then we can talk about a balanced ecosystem. In other words, when we see a predominance of any form of life on an other, it means that the ecosystem is not in balance, and this must lead the conscious man to understand the right agronomic interventions to be put in place to reach equilibrium between all forms of life of that specific ecosystem. We want to emphasize the importance of the awareness because for us (“L’Archetipo”), the true conscious Man is: the one that when eat, he knows what he’s eating, when talk, he knows what he’s talking about and when he works, he knows what he’s doing.
Studying and applying for year the teachings of Rudolf Steiner and Masanobu Fukuoka, to whom is dedicated our production, we learn how to give life to the soil.
This is the foundation of our becoming.
For those who don’t understand what has been done to our mother earth in the last 50-60 years, he should know that the usage of chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides, lead to the desertification of the soil, because these substances affect the whole microflora and microfauna of the soil, determining death.
Nature’s Cycle and the Synergy of Life
Francesco Valentino Dibenedetto
To become aware of this knowledge, we must understand that every organic substance can return to new life only after undergoing the humification (composting) processes carried out by the very microflora and microfauna present in living soil. Without these actors, the cycle of life is interrupted. Nature programmed this cycle perfectly without the need for human intervention. If we reflect on what happens in a forest, the organic matter that falls to the ground (leaves, branches, etc.) undergoes a phenomenon called "surface composting." This is nothing more than a complex and not yet fully understood sequence of biological transformations carried out by microflora and microfauna. Starting from any organic substance—whether of plant or animal origin—this process leads to the formation of precious humus, the true food for plants. It should be noted that the different life forms of microflora and microfauna vary according to the vertical profile of the soil, resulting in great specific variability (in terms of species) between the different soil layers. This helps us understand the profound meaning of a book titled Plowman's Folly by Edward H. Faulkner. By plowing—especially with a traditional plow—we disrupt the delicate balance between the different life forms that have formed in synergy at various soil depths. In doing so, we upset the great work that nature has woven specifically to close the cycle of life, allowing that which dies to soon return to life again. In our vineyards, there has been no plowing of any kind for five years. This has been very healthy for all life forms present, including our vines, allowing Nature to reach its ultimate goal: the well-being of all its inhabitants, who finally find themselves back in their Archetype. One thing must be clear: contrary to how we have been indoctrinated to think and act, living beings are not in competition with each other; on the contrary, they are in synergy. Furthermore, if we consider that all life on Earth—originating four and a half billion years ago to reach what was considered, until a century ago, the most beautiful and extraordinary thing ever seen in the entire Universe—and all the billions of living species (each more beautiful than the last), all of this cannot be the child of negative forces. It can only be the result of synergistically positive forces where, to put it in quantum terms: one plus one equals three! Today, finally, if anyone wishes to become aware of the disasters caused by lack of awareness and simultaneously understand how to move past them, they can do so by visiting us. By observing the vitality of our soils up close, the only possible path out of the dangerous spiral in which most people are trapped in this era of great darkness will become clear.
